Interest Groups

Our students and staff have vast interests. We encourage these interests in a number of ways across the school.

Electives

Every Thursday afternoon, the Senior School is involved in electives. Teachers take a group of children in an area of interest. This has included Choir, sports teams, Mainstream Kapa Haka, Indoor Games, Photography, Cooking, Origami and many more.

Sports

We participate in almost every inter-school sporting competition offered by the MPSSA (Manurewa Primary Schools Sports Association). Our Year 7-8 students are also catered for through the Central Counties Sports Group.

Kelly Sports

In 2011, Clendon Park School welcomes Kelly Sports as part of our school-wide Physical Education programme. Courtesy of an extremely generous grant from Grassroots Trust, we have been able to secure the services of Kelly Sports' professional coaches to enhance Physical Education in our school.

In Term 1, Kelly Sports coached every class in the school for one session of swimming a week - a wonderful opportunity for our students.

In Term 2, Kelly Sports will be working with our Senior School students on their large ball skills, as well as helping with the coaching of some of our inter-school sports teams.

In Term 3, the Junior School will have Kelly Sports working with them on their Physical Education programmes.

CDL (Clendon Developing Leaders)

A leadership programme for students in the senior school. This programme is overseen by James Dawson and supported by facilitators from outside our school.

School Councillors

We are Clendon Park's fantastic school councillors. Throughout the year we are going to be;
  • Leading school assemblies - We will be making our assemblies fun and exciting
  • We will also be giving up our lunch time - to do fun and terrific activities like
  • Sports - Ripper rugby and netball
  • Computer activities (for the juniors)
  • Kapa haka and more

All of you will have the opportunity to participate in these events during the year. When you see us in the playground, feel free to talk to us.

Cultural Groups

We have a large number of cultural groups in our school. These groups are trained by our staff and community. The groups participate in the Maori and Polynesian Festivals held annually. They also perform regularly at Southmall, Clendon Town Centre, Hunters Plaza and at our Cultural Evenings and at school assemblies. If you would like to help with the training of our groups, please do not hesitate to contact us. We really value your support.
